Harmful Bacteria on your Sports Gear

60% of people suffer from skin infections of the feet, and/or toenails. These can also affect other parts of the body. Fungi and bacteria cling to materials causing odour. FungiSolve stops reinfection in Athlete’s foot… etc which are trapped in your sports gear.

“In each of the last three years, more MRSA-infected people have checked into the hospital than either HIV-positive or influenza-afflicted patients, combined”
- The Atlantic

“Staph has been spread in locker rooms by towel snapping. If he's got turf burn on his leg and you've got the bacteria on the towel, he can become infected.”
- Men’s Health

“All athletes are predisposed to the bug because they have close contact with one another in locker rooms. They share equipment, and, of course, collision sports lead to abrasions and open the skin, which provides a portal of entry for bacteria.”
- Men’s Journal

FungiSolve is a simple way to get rid of bacteria.

  • FungiSolve disinfects and decontaminates, kills bacteria and fungi, and unpleasant odours these cause. Proved effective by the SA Bureau of Standards (SABS).

Prevention of Shigellosis

What Is Shigellosis?

Shigellosis (pronounced: shih-guh-LOW-sus) is an intestinal infection caused by Shigella (pronounced: shih-GEL-uh) bacteria. The bacteria produces toxins that can attack the lining of the large intestine, causing swelling, ulcers on the intestinal wall, and bloody diarrhea. Symptoms can range from just watery diarrhea to bloody diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain.
Shigella bacteria can contaminate food and water supplies, especially in areas where the sanitation is not adequate. However, most of the time the bacteria are spread when a person comes into contact with another person's stool (poop). That's one of the reasons why it's important to wash your hands after using the restroom. It takes as few as 10 of these bacteria to cause an infection. That means that Shigella bacteria can spread easily within families, schools, child-care centers, nursing homes, and other institutions.
Shigellosis can affect people of any age, including teens. It's especially common in children ages 2 to 3 years old because they're often not toilet trained yet or they don't wash their hands after using the bathroom.
We also recommend that you clean your bathroom and kitchen with FungiSolve to get rid of bacteria. Use one concentrate capsule of 10ml diluteded in 1 litre of water.

Treat ingrown toe nails and stop infection.

What is an ingrown toe nail?

A toenail is ingrown when one or both sides of the nail begin to break through and grow into the soft skin of the toe. This can lead to irritation and infection because of all the bacteria hidden around your feet.

How Did My Nail Do That?

Ingrown toenails can develop pretty quickly. The most common trigger of ingrown toenails is poor nail-trimming skills. Nails that are cut too short often allow the skin on the sides to cover the corners of the nail. This causes the nail to grow back beneath the skin. Nails that are ripped off, instead of cut, also have a tendency to become ingrown because they don't have defined corners. Nails that are rounded rather than cut straight across can also cause the nail to break the soft skin.

How to treat infected ingrown toe nails.

1) Ingrown toenails must first be allowed to grow and cut appropriately as per diagram above.

2) Use Medipod Foot Repair Cream to prevent bacteria from building around the ingrown toenail and stoping further bacterial infection. Simply apply cream to area and massage for 2 minutes.

3) Wash shoes and socks in FungiSolve to disinfect them and prevent bacteria spreading onto toes. Simply throw gear into the washing machine and a cap of FungiSolve to washing Machine and let it run cycle as per usual.

Can fungus come back?

Fungi are all around us, re-infection is possible.
Washing infected shoes and socks in hot water will not guarantee that these do not cause re-infection.
Patients would wear new shoes and socks or soak old footwear in a fungicide such as FungiSolve, to prevent re-infection.
FungiSolve is available on www.medipod.co.za
